Rights and Representation Lab
The Rights and Representation Lab supports research related to the politics of rights and representation in Canada. Dr. Elizabeth Baisley is the Lab’s Director, and Dr. Quinn M. Albaugh is its Associate Director. The Rights and Representation Lab is housed in the Centre for the Study of Democracy and Diversity at Queen’s University. We host some open events and workshops (such as a panel on Backlash against LGBTQ2S+ People and Rights in Canada) as well as hold regular meetings for lab members.
How Do I Apply to Join the Lab?
For the 2025-2026 academic year, we are only taking new lab members through two routes:
Supervisions (e.g., honours thesis, MRP, PhD thesis): if you are interested in being supervised by Dr. Elizabeth Baisley or Dr. Quinn Albaugh, please email them directly to discuss this possibility.
Paid work: if you are an undergraduate student interested in research assistant work, keep an eye out for postings through Queen’s job boards. If you are a graduate student, please feel free to reach out to Dr. Elizabeth Baisley to put your name on a list for when opportunities are circulated via email.
The Lab seeks to make Canadian political science more inclusive, so we particularly welcome applications from those who are from groups that remain underrepresented in the discipline.
